CBD Oil, Cannabidiol or Phyto cannabinoids

It is becoming very popular, but what do we know about it? Which CBD oil is better, which one is best or worst?

CBD stands for cannabidiol and is harvested from the seeds and stalk fibers of Cannabis sativa, otherwise known as hemp.

Marijuana would mean it is containing psychoactive compound THC, harvested from different strain, Cannabis Indica strain while Hemp only contains CBD, and extremely low in in psychoactive compound, THC. Marijuana contains CBD and other chemicals, such as THC, which makes people high. Phyto cannabinoids directly interact with cannabinoid receptors in the body, much like a lock and a key. The cannabinoid receptors are part of a unique communication system in the body, known as endocannabinoid system. This system is laced throughout the central nervous system and is distributed among peripheral tissues including the immune and reproductive system, gastrointestinal tract, brain cells, endocrine glands, arteries, lungs and heart.

Phyto cannabinoids have been studied for their potential health supportive effects on the nervous.

The strongest scientific evidence comes from managing childhood epilepsy, not responding to antiseizure medications. CBD was able to reduce the number of seizures, and in some cases it was able to stop them all together. Videos of the effects of CBD on these children and their seizures are available on Internet for viewing, and they are striking.

-CBD helps protect the brain and nervous system by supporting balanced neurotransmitters, proper brain stimulation, and activity. It is commonly addressed to reduce anxiety and for the patient who suffered through the misery of insomnia, CBD oil may help to have a restful sleep.

-European studies demonstrated that CBD oil helps inhibits inflammatory and neuropathic pain, two of the most difficult types of chronic pain to control.

-The digestive track appears to have high levels of endocannabinoids. Thus, photo cannabinoids my help to support healthy gastric motility (movements of food through digestive system) as well as healthy appetite.

How safe is CBD oil?

CBD oil might have side effects such as nausea, fatigue or irritability.

CBD can increase the level of the blood thinner Coumadin, and the raise the level of other medication the same way grapefruit juice does A significant safety concern with CBD is that that is primarily sold as a supplement, not a medication it’s not regulated for safety and purity by FDA.

So, you can’t know for sure that’s the product you buy has the active ingredients as listed on the label or it may contain other (unknown) elements. There is also unknown what is the best effective therapeutic dose of CBD for any particular medical condition.

CBD oil can differ by their content.

-Full spectrum CBD is an extract that contains all naturally occurring plant compounds, including terpenes, essential oils, and other cannabinoids.

The full spectrum of cannabinoids, terpenes, and essential oil extracted from the plant work together to magnify the therapeutic benefits of each individual cannabinoid. This is commonly referred to as the

“ entourage affect”.

The 2005 study from Lautenberg Center for general tumor immunology in Jerusalem showed that full spectrum CBD provides higher levels of relief compared to CBD isolate.

Also, that results showed that full spectrum CBD provided enhanced effects with higher dosages, while the effects of isolate CBD maintain consistent with increased dosages.

The “entourage effect” enhances the product’s health-promoting effects, meaning theoretically smaller amounts can be used to elicit greater benefits. Thus, the entourage effect is vital for ensuring robust Phyto cannabinoid action.

-Isolate CBD oil is the purest form of CBD, produced by removing all other compounds found in the plant including terpenes, flavonoids, plant parts, and other cannabinoids.

-Broad spectrum CBD is a bit of a mix between full spectrum CBD and CBD isolate. Like full spectrum CBD the other compounds found within the extract are preserved; however, like CBD isolate THC is completely removed.

Several labeling inaccuracies have been reported. After analyzing 84 CBD products, one group of researchers discovered that nearly 43 percent contained more CBD than advertised.

That’s why it’s important to select a reputable company. These companies will offer lab results from third-party testing and be available to answer your questions.

Beware of any company that promises extreme results, remember that results may differ. A product that works well for a friend or family member may not have the same effects for you.

Sourcing & Purification: In the wild, Cannabis plants easily absorb and accumulatevarious toxins including chemicals such as pesticides, heavy metals, molds and bacteria. Therefore, a controlled growing environment is vital for quality and purification.

Patient “A” Intro Bio

Hi!  I was asked by Dr. Liliya to share my weight loss experience.  I would love to share my experience as I definitely think that many could benefit from working with her. However, as I share, I would like to keep my privacy and perhaps one day, I’ll share my identity.  Not that it really matters, but it just makes me more comfortable.

So I’m about 40 years old, have two amazing kids and an adoring husband.  We have a lot of stress with our lifestyle as he works a lot of hours and I like most of you, juggle a job, kids and all around manager of the house.  I love my life and family but I need to love myself and I’m learning how to do that again.

I was diagnosed as a teen with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. Blah! Other than irregular periods and the needs to occasionally was my upper lip, I didn’t really have much trouble with my PCOS until after kiddo #2. Suddenly, I was in my late 20s, two babies and things did not bounce back as I had hoped.  Months passed, I dieted, exercised and nothing really happened. I think during this time my insulin resistance started to show its ugly self.

I tried weight watchers, 5am boot camps, shakes and it all just felt like punishment. I would have some minor successes, but I have never obtained my target weight again.

In the last couple years we’ve had some major life changes and my attempts to eat well, were sidelined because it was just another stresser that I couldn’t seem to spend the mental energy on.  As a result, I gain another 50 lbs. It just happens so fast. About 3 years ago, I also developed High blood Pressure. It’s passed time that I get serious.

As a someone who deals with PCOS and insulin resistance, my metabolism moves as slow as a turtle on a lunch break. So I’m getting some help from Dr. Liliya.  This is my process… I hope you will gain some knowledge and encouragement.

Week 1

When I first met with Dr. Liliya, she did some blood test. I think she expected that I would at least be pre-diabetic. However, my cholesterol, A1C and whatever else she tested, actually came back fine. There were certain medicines I think she wanted to use to help me , but she could not justify them based on my blood work.

She did suggest a medication called Saxenda.  It is an injection that looks like an epipen that you slowly increase the dosage of weekly. Kind of odd but I chose to give it a chance.  She mentioned that she had one patient that lost 10 lbs in a week! Well, after my first week, I lost 2 lbs. No 10 pounds but I’ll take it.

Week 2

So, I lost another 2 pounds.  But I learned a hard lesson. I was at an outside event and nearly passed out.  I was seriously embarrassed. It wasn’t hot or anything. My blood sugar had dropped.  Saxenda works by sending signals to your body that you are not hungry. But guess what… you do need to eat!  I had also started a diuretic to help with my blood pressure which Dr. Liliya believes was a major factor. I was busy and just completely forgot that I did not eat dinner and then failed to eat breakfast because I was in a hurry. So eating is key! But I guess the medicine works. Ha!

Week3

You guys, Dr Liliya is wonderful.  She will treat you with kindness, respect and truly wants to help you succeed. But I have to learn to help myself as well.  I have to get back in the gym and I know it. I typically go 1-2 times a week, and that just isn’t enough. I’m supposed to increase the Saxenda dose each week. I have not increase until this week. I was a .6ml and I increased to 1.2 ml. Some days I sense a little nausea, but it goes away.  Usually the afternoon is when I have those snacky cravings, but I’ve noticed that I don’t have those anymore. I eat smaller portions as well. I lost maybe another 1-1.5 pounds.

Week 4-9

I have stayed on track with the Saxenda, but my journaling has not been great.  But I’m back! I have slowly increased my dose weekly all the way to a dose of 2.4ml.  I have steadily lost 1-2.5 pounds a week. Dr. Liliya wants me to lose 20% of my goal using the medication. Which I guess that would be 14 pounds.  I have done that, so not sure what is next. I still am not in the gym enough. The juggle of life is difficult. Maybe I’ll try early morning… ugh!

Week 10

I have not been to see Dr. Liliya but really need to get by there. I am out of medicine and I need to talk to her about what is next. I would love to find something else to replace the medicine to reduce my appetite. The crazy thing is, I have never thought of my self as an over eater. However, I have learned that women with PCO and insulin resistance only burn about 1,116 calories a day!  The average woman who doesn’t suffer from PCOS/Insulin resistance will burn approximately 1868 calories a day. So I may not feel like I’m eating much but my body just does not need much fuel.

I am Dr. Liliya Slutsker, a board-certified physician of pediatrics and obesity medicine.  I want to share with you a short story.

I was in my office seeing patients as I do during my daily routine.  The door opened, and one of the supervisors stepped in with a tray of beautiful cupcakes and everybody’s face lit up.  There were jokes and laughter. The whole mood improved. At that moment, I realized something: how much we love cupcakes and how we get addicted to sweets! Just merely seeing a cupcake put us in a festive mood.

Since very early on, we give babies sweetened water when they cry, then we go to juices and consider it healthy, and we celebrate their first birthday with large and sweet cakes, cupcakes or ice cream cakes.  Later, kids start attending daycare, schools and have more friends to celebrate more birthdays, graduations and holiday. And every time sweet and artful cupcakes are there.

So cupcakes have come to indicate a good thing; a celebratory or festive event where kids get presents, and parents letting them play and get away with behaviors that may be punished in normal circumstances.  In this way, we are not only helping them to develop a sweet tooth, but we are also reinforcing their addiction with presents and festive behavior.

While our economic welfare is getting better, we have more sweets and more cake. As a result, more kids are overweight or obese; precisely 34% in Alabama.  And you do not have to tell them that they are carrying extra weight: they know. The kids know because they feel how their friends or strangers look at them. They know because they are being teased and bullied. They know because they see some of their relatives or parents with the same problem, facing the consequences of high blood pressure and diabetes, wheelchair bound because of joint pain or getting treatment for cancer.

Did you know that that the Center for Disease Control (CDC) reported that the total mortality rate for U.S. youth ages 10-19 rose 12% from 2013 to 2016 in large part due to the sharp increase in injury death (unintentional accidents, suicides, homicides)? And the statistical prediction is that this younger generation is going to have a shorter lifespan than us due to rising obesity, and carrying the many ailments associated with it.

It is tough to even start a conversation with kids about weight. They start crying because they know they are overweight and they are scared but are not able to do anything about it. It is a disease, and it needs to be treated or we have to join forces to prevent it from happening in the first place.

In France, there is a ban on free refills for soda.  We can do better than that. We have to raise awareness to protect our children, our society from this chronic illness. That is why I have declared war on cupcakes!  I don’t want to just talk. I want to develop a strategy. And I want you to join me, to help me and become a cupcake fighter.

Please join me in the War on Cupcakes.

Yours in health,

Dr. Liliya

Mirror, Mirror tell me the truth.

Why do I want to look younger? Why do I want to look prettier?
It weighs on you when you look at the mirror and you do not seem to be happy.
How we can help?

The aging process brings with it a number of changes in our skin. Some of these changes include wrinkles, crow’s feet and fine lines. Frown lines are lines that appear in between the eyebrows and clearly visible as deep furrows, that make us look grumpy. The loss of volume in the face makes skin gravitate down, forming nasolabial folds; marionette lines at the corners of the mouth, and sagging jowls.
With spring in the air, we want to look beautiful with the calm expression and mysterious smile of Mona Lisa.

At Carrington Medical Spa we have a few things up our sleeve to help your skin look fresh and beautiful.
Botox injections are a popular treatment modality for treating and managing fine lines and wrinkles. The treatments are relatively simple, with minimal discomfort and are relatively quick. Our patients have had great results and the satisfaction rates are high.

How exactly does Botox remove frown lines? Frown lines are often due to alteration in the muscle tone of the muscles that underlie the skin. When Botox is injected into these muscles the muscle tone is reduced, this causes smoothing out of the frown lines, causing them to literally disappear.
These days, Botox injections to remove frown lines are not only sought after by women but also by men.
Compared to other plastic surgery options, Botox injections are relatively cheap and can achieve the required result without the risks of anesthesia. By removing frown lines, the face appears a lot brighter, skin appears a lot smoother and the individual appears a lot younger.
Dermal fillers such as Restylane or Juvederm help to restore volume and fullness in the face.
Dermal fillers are hyaluronic acid molecules of different sizes, a naturally occurring substance that delivers nutrients to the skin, helping the skin retain moisture and softness and adding volume.
At Carrrington Medical Spa we use:
• Juvederm Voluma XC injectable gel for deep injection in the cheek area to correct age-related volume loss;
• Juvederm Vollure XC injectable gel for the correction of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds (such as nasolabial folds)
• Juvederm Volbella XC injectable gel is for injection into the lips for lip augmentation and for correction of perioral lines.

Carrington Medical Spa can help you to feel happy by looking in the mirror admiring the blossoming beautiful you!

Dr. Liliya
